Getting back up

Fall is here! My favorite season and I'm feeling better. I believe I mentioned previously that my neuro and I decided not to do the Botox anymore and instead try the Trokendi instead of the topamax. It tried it for two weeks and it seemed fine . After the multiple calls to my insurance company, the Trokendi manufacturer, my pharmacy and my doc's again, I got my 30 day supply. It was free with the manufacturer's assistance, and those of us scraping by waiting 5 or more years in the clutches of the Social Security Administration need all the free we can get! But I digress...

About halfway into it I got the worst 2-day migraine I've had in years!! WTH? Then I began having nightly sugar cravings, gained ten pounds in two weeks, was surly, sleeping constantly and the coup-de-grace: my sex drive was non-existent. Even if I'm not dating anyone, well, awe hell no!

I called my doc's office and left word this Med was not helpful at all. She called in a 90 day supply of plain old Topamax and while the neuropathy is back, the headaches/migraines are minimal, the weight is falling off, I'm awake and have a decent amount of energy. I call that a win!

Trying a new medicine is always a roll of the dice. It's great if something works and doesn't fuck up you're current drug cocktail, but in my case, more often than not, it doesn't help or backfires completely.

A funny anecdote-I had a doctor once tell me that I was in the 2%. I asked he meant. He said 'in ads for medications and such they give statics usually like "this medicine or procedure works in 98%of people who use it!" so you, my dear, are the 2%.' I knew I was special but damn!
